“The Alpha Alpha chapter welcomed the Delta class this semester. We have experienced our share of “growing pains” which have strengthened our sisterhood and provided us with wisdom for the future of this sorority. There are 16 active sisters excited to grow with 9 candidates who eagerly anticipate initiation. We continue to strive for the Lord’s name to be spread among our campus and the Harrisonburg community, and look forward to the ways He will use us to further His Kingdom.”

“Being in SAO has been such a blessing in my life. I am constantly surrounded by girls who lift me up and demonstrate daily what it is like to be a Christian woman at college. I joined SAO during the fall of my freshman year and immediately felt like I had found friendships that would not only make my four years here a blast, but would mold me into the Christian woman God intended me to be. From game nights of endless Fishbowl to raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer Research, there is always such an amazing sense of sisterhood and dedication. And now as we welcome our new candidate class I am so excited to see what God has in store for our sorority this year!”
While getting adjusted to losing our Founders has been difficult, we are striving to unite together and get to know each other as deeply as the Lord knows each of us. This year is about change, changing our outlook, establishing traditions, and perfecting our constitution.
When I learned about Sigma Alpha Omega, I had no idea how much the Lord would transform me through this organization. I have grown so much in my walk with the Lord within the past year, I am so grateful for this blessing that the Lord has graciously given to me.
“Sister, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 - Rachel Gill

"I came into this school without a single outlet for Christian fellowship. Once I found Sigma Alpha Omega®, I knew God had put it into my life for a reason. As of fall 2010, I have been an official sister, and I have loved every minute of it. SAO has given me lifelong friends. My sisters are more than just sisters--they are my best friends, my mentors, and my support system. I genuinely look forward seeing them at every SAO related event, and it makes my day when I randomly see them walking on the way to class. SAO has also taught what it means to be a true Christian woman. Granted, I was raised in a Christian home, so I knew the basics and typical do's and don’ts. But I didn't know what it meant to live out my faith daily until I met these girls. SAO has given me a new outlook on my relationship with Christ. SAO has also given me the opportunity to be a Christian leader, for both my sisters and my friends outside of the sorority. I love being the Christian Relations committee head, and I find pure joy in leading Bible studies. But what is even cooler is the fact that my roommates, who are not as strong in their faith, always ask me for advice simply because they know I am Christian. Without SAO, I wouldn't have been confident enough to shine Christ through my everyday actions."
“And now, dear sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
